Sam's Room

Between the baby's room and the awesome new closet in our room, you may be wondering if Sam is feeling left out. On the contrary, we've made some changes to his room as well. Because he has a small room--smaller than the baby's--we've been finding it difficult to keep his room from feeling really cluttered. We decided that if we could get more stuff off the ground, it might help, so we purchased some cheap IKEA bookshelves that would give us more vertical storage space. The shelves were only $19.99 each, and really don't look bad, particularly considering the price. They also gave us a ton of storage that was very much needed. Here's how they turned out:

With the addition of the shelves, we had to relocate Sam's bed:

Sam's dresser is now where his bed used to be. The animal quilt on the wall was a gift for Sam from my parents. It was too cute to pack away, so I had Chris put up a curtain rod on the wall, then pinned ribbon tabs to the quilt to hang it. Because the room is already cramped, and because there wasn't a door on the closet when we moved it, we opted to hang a curtain across the closet opening instead. The curtain is actually an embroidered shower curtain with monkeys on it. I added an extra length of fabric to the bottom (not shown) to extend the curtain to the floor. And yes, that IS a baby-sized Green Bay Packers cheesehead hanging on the curtain rod.

All in all, the room is pretty functional and cute, particularly given its size.
