So first the good news: Sam seems to be improving finally--yay! He still has a low fever, but so far this morning, it has stayed below 100 degrees, even at a point when he hadn't had Tylenol for 5 hours. He is still coughing, and had a few bad episodes in the night, but it doesn't seem as bad and he did manage to get some longer periods of sleep in last night that he has in a few nights. In fact, this morning he's downright chipper. As I type, he's pretending to be a dog and trying to lick my arm... lovely. It's only a matter of time before he puts a blanket on his head and starts stumbling around the living room.*
On to the bad news: First, no baby, obviously. I'm getting really anxious to meet her, and getting frustrated by the lack of progress. I do have a massage scheduled with my doula for Tuesday morning (having stupidly forgotten that the inauguration is going on--rats!), so that may help get things moving if nothing has happened at that point. Meanwhile, both Chris and I woke up with stuffy noses and slightly sore throats, and I'm sneezing on a regular basis. Not. Good. Now instead of worrying that I'll go into labor while Sam is miserably sick, I'm worried that it'll happen when Chris and/or I are miserably sick. That would be so our luck.
Anyhow, keep your fingers crossed for us that if we do get sick, it's nothing like what Sam has been through over the past few days. So far I'm trying to tell myself that he has a kid-specific ailment and that Chris and I are congested because of lack of sleep combined with the cold weather.
*Sam put a blanket on Jack's head on day and was greatly amused by Jack's inability to get the blanket off. Instead of shaking or pulling it off the way a halfway intelligent dog would, Jack stumbled around the room for a while, before just sighing and lying down on the floor. Sam was in hysterics, he thought it was so funny, and has taken to putting a blanket on his own head and stumbling around the room yelling "I'm Jackie! I'm Jackie! Whoooaaaa!"
