For the past several months, Chris and my dad have spent at least part of nearly every weekend working on rebuilding the closet. There were times when I had my doubts about getting the job done before the baby arrived, but in the end, everything came together. The end result is far more awesome closet than I had expected. I not only got a closet with enough room to hang our clothes in, but also got built-in shelves and a built-in shoe cubby system.
Here's a look at the closet before we started moving in:
And here it is now that we've crammed all of our clothes in:
Hopefully the closet will be a bit less stuffed looking in a few months. At the moment, I have three wardrobes:
- Maternity clothes
- Pre-weight-loss clothes (had lost 50 lbs prior to becoming pregnant)
- Post-weight-loss clothes
Obviously, I'm going to need the maternity clothes for at least a little while longer. And since I'm sure I won't immediately revert back to the post-weight-loss, pre-pregnancy body, I don't want to get rid of the second set of clothes. And finally, because I really liked that post-weight-loss body, I'm determined to need that third set of clothes before too long.
Anyhow, Chris, Dad, thank you both of you for all of your hard work. You did a beautiful job, and I'm thrilled with the end result. I'm also really pleased to have gotten all of our stuff out of what will now be the baby's room. My frustrated nesting instincts have been soothed now that I've been able to unpack our baby gear, set up the crib, and sort through baby clothes.
Coming soon: Photos of the baby's room! Just have to finish off a few details.
