Nearly 1 Week Overdue, But Hope At Last

I just got back from my last (!) weekly OB appointment and am delighted to report that there is actually some sign of progress--yay! In order to not squick out the faint-hearted, I won't go into details, but I will say that there was talk of dilation and effacement. If you're curious to hear details, shoot me an email at housetrolls@gmail.com. In any event, the doctor basically said that my body is showing signs of being ready to go at any time, which was not the case last week.

While at the office, they gave me another ultrasound to make sure that all is well with the baby. Thankfully, everything looked perfect, so I wasn't pressured to schedule an induction for the next day or two. Instead, I've got an induction scheduled for next Tuesday, but am feeling really hopeful that it won't be necessary.

One cool thing about the ultrasound is that the technician pointed out that the baby has quite a bit of hair--you could actually see it on monitor. Sam was quite hairy as an infant, with a full head of thick, dark hair, and it sounds like this baby will continue the trend.

Anyhow, think positive thoughts for us! I've got a prenatal massage scheduled with our doula later this afternoon, so hopefully the relaxation combined with the accupressure will help speed things along.

All in all, this is shaping up to be a good day! I'm continuing to feel better, I got good news at the OB, I have a massage to look forward to, and the Lost premiere to enjoy at the end of the day!
