Ack! It's a Race!

I just got back from seeing my doula for a massage. It was very relaxing, and she spent a good deal of time working the various pressure points that are supposed to stimulate labor. Maybe it's all in my head, but I do feel different... I'm curious to see what happens next.

The only bad thing is that it appears that I am neck-in-neck with her other client. Apparently the other client also saw her OB today, and is pretty much at the same place as me in terms of dilation and effacement. The only difference is that this other woman's doctor stripped her membranes (helps get things moving... won't go into details, again for the faint of heart, so Google it if you're curious). So basically, we started the day at the same place, could both go into labor at any time, but this other woman has the advantage over me. Ack!

If she does beat me to it, which I'm hoping she does not, we'll still have a doula available to us, just not the one that we've been working with. I REALLY hope this doesn't happen, as I really like our doula and have not met the other woman. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I know one thing, I'm going to use every trick I have to get encourage labor: sitting on the exercise ball, raspberry leaf tea, evening primrose oil, more accupressure, and other... things (Google natural labor induction, if you're curious).

  2. Don't worry, having your membranes stripped guarantees nothing. You can still go a week after that without having a baby. Trust me. I know. Right Nicky?
