Fiona's First Week

Between Sam and Fiona, I haven't had many opportunities to update the blog this week. I'm happy to report though that things have been going quite well. So far, Fiona has been remarkably easygoing and has been sleeping like a champ at night. In fact, last night I had to wake her up for her feedings, then kept nudging her to keep her awake during the feedings.

In terms of nursing, things have been going so much better than they did with Sam. In fact, I'm still amazed at how problem-free the whole process has been. Sam was never good about latching on and staying latched, and we had a lot of drama during the first few weeks of his life as a result. All newborns lose some weight after birth, but Sam lost more than 10% of his body weight due to poor nursing, so we ended up having to make numerous trips to the pediatrician's office during the first two weeks to make sure he was okay. Fiona, on the other hand, latches on just fine, nurses frequently and passed her first weigh-in at the pediatrician's with flying colors. It's such a relief!

Speaking of Fiona, she's starting to wake up and is probably hungry, so I should go. I'll post more stories about Sam and Fiona later today. Here are a few new photos to enjoy in the meantime:
